The Real Life Impact Of Superstition
Superstition, or luck, may be nothing more to you than reading your daily horoscope for a good laugh. You know that science explains a lot of things, like why the earth is round and why you are able to stand on the ground instead of float. On the other hand, there are some people who take their doses of superstition very serious.
Some people will not budge or start their day without their nickel free charm. If they begin their day without it, it can be a serious impairment on their ability to perform their daily tasks! Likewise, you will find the faithfully devoted in bowling alleys, work places, and bingo halls that simply feel like they can not perform without a particular trinket. Their superstitious belief may also revolve around a particular ritual as opposed to an item.
You may have started wondering how exactly these charms, trinkets or rituals work. Maybe this will be your transition into successful personal training, as you have always wanted? Maybe you just want to tell bad luck to stay away. Whatever your reason, you want to learn more about superstition.
If you choose to believe in them or not humans have leaned toward a superstitious nature for centuries. Clear indications point to cave drawings and sacrifices to name only a few. These were attempts by humans to change their course of life, and bring only good.
Some people may know in their minds that carrying a particular charm, or using the same golf club will not show you how to break 80 magically, but it’s an emotional attachment. It is a person who wants to take control in situations where there are too many outside factors to be in complete control.
This emotional response to superstition can help put a person in a positive state of mind. Staying positive can impact your performance in real terms. Being positive can enhance mental and physical performance, regardless of what it is that gets you into this positive state of mind. Even if it is a particular ritual you do before a game or a charm you wear.
What makes doing these things real is the mental impact. When you believe you can achieve something you will work hard to get there. On the other hand, if you think it is unattainable you will probably give up early on in the process. So, keeping positive because of a charm you are wearing may actually give you the reminder that you can do this. So is your great performance a matter of wearing the charm or the belief that you are going to get your goal?
